CLOSURE OF ST. JOHN'S
Brothers and Sisters in Christ:
The Anglican Parish of St. John the Divine has served the city of Burnaby and the Diocese of New Westminster for over one hundred years. In its long history the Parish has gone through periods of growth and decline. At present, while we have a well maintained building, we no longer have the financial or ministry resources that a Parish needs to sustain itself. As a result, on Nov. 15, 2009 the congregation voted to petition the Bishop to close the Parish of St. John the Divine. The Bishop has concurred with the vote. The Anglican Parish of St. John the Divine will close as of Dec. 31, 2009.
The final Sunday morning Services at St. John’s will be at 8a.m. and 10:30a.m. on Sun. Dec. 27, 2009. A Closing Service for St. John’s will be held at the church on Sun. Jan. 3, 2010 at 2p.m.. Bishop Michael will celebrate at the Closing Service. Please make a point of coming to the Closing Service as we thank God for St. John’s and celebrate the people and ministry of the Parish over the past century.
